Inflammatory Bowel Disease Archives

After almost Two Hundred (200) Hospitalizations, Twenty (20) Surgeries and 25+ years of Learning How to Live, Love and Laugh with Crohn’s Disease, I’m finally an Expert at something — at 48 years of age! They say to “Write about what You Know” — I’ve done that — ie, by Authoring the Book, “Confessions of a Professional Hospital Patient,” which I began writing simply to Help other people similarly challenged by Chronic Illness - both IN and OUT of the Hospital. Thankfully, my Humorous and Painfully Candid Perspective has Far exceeded those Goals such that my Book has been Critically Acclaimed as Inspirational and as the most Accurate Account of Living (and Thriving) with Chronic Illness. In fact, I wrote the Book in 2001 and it appears to be timeless as the current Health Care Reform Debate in 2011 has sparked renewed Interest in my Book such that not a day goes by without me receiving a heart-warming email about how me sharing my experiences has made someone else’s life better. The feeling of somehow having the ability with just mere words to make such a positive impact on another’s life is Life-Affirming and quite humbling. So, despite all the hassles, pain, expenses and downsides to being challenged every day by Crohn’s Disease, I’d change NOTHING about my Life. THAT is the Upside to Chronic Illness. :)

We Are The Faces of IBD

Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis affect all different kinds of people all over the world. After posting this I realized I should have picked a more uplifting song. This one is a bit of a downer. I do not own this song. Permission for each photo was given to me by it’s owner.

Andreas joined us this morning for an in depth discussion on our immune system: Choosing the diet that works best for each body type, watching the carbs, cutting out suger, and going light on the animal products. He explains why good digestion is crucial for optimal health and when you see the ingrediant “natural flavor”, you may want to question whether or not it’s natural flavor. Andreas always brings great and practical information to the table. Enjoy the show!
