UCVlog: Nadia’s Journey Through Crohn’s Colitis–Bump in The Road #2 Picc Line Wound Care
I have a blood clot from my cephalic vein to my subclavian vein, so my picc line has to stay in for several more months until the blood clot dissolves. I also have an infection near the picc line site. This video walks you through the process of changing the dressing. I go twice daily to have the dressing changed (for a month)…This is all part of the Crohn’s but hopefully things will start to change for the better….Enjoy my video and Comment Rate and Subscribe… Follow Us on Facebook! Wow! You handle having a picc? line so good! I’ve never had one, but I’ve had tons of iv’s. How often do you have to go to the hospital to get the dressing changed?
Thanks, I have had multiple picc lines.. this one is my 5th one.? and its been in my arm for 4 months and will have to stay in until November. I have a blood clot around it so it has to stay in. I went twice a day to get the dressing changed but after the infection is gone, it get changed once a week. it sucks, no matter what…. but i have to stay positive its just what i do!! My attitude is a big part of my recovery.. Thanks for your comment. much love, Nadia BTW how r u doing?!?
ANYBODY ? WITH UC FROM ISRAEL ??
Not? that i know of.. Maybe you can ask your doctor to tell you if he knows any other patients with UC. Maybe you can connect with them.. Good Luck
Hey, great video once again! I’m sorry you keep having these issues though.? Are you on blood thinners right now? Did the blood clot cause any serious problems or did you catch it soon enough?
Take care,
Dennis
Thanks! How are you doing, Dennis?! Yes, I keep having issue after issue.. I’m sure u know the drill..? I’m on Lovenox 2 times a day for 6 months.. Injections in my tummy… UGHHH.. I caught the clot in time, but 2 pieces broke off and almost hit my heart. so im thankful they didn’t.. and im still here to make vids! Take care!! keep in touch!
I hated Lovenox, Nadia. I was always too chicken to give myself shots as well. Fortunately, I was only on it for a few weeks, now I take pills. Still a pain but that’s how it goes. I have my first pouchoscopy at the end of the? month so hopefully everything looks okay! Take care!
looks like you are at their mercy and you are just? along for the ride. a not to sweet a ride at that.
I too have had those same complications with the picc lines. It all started last year in November i stepped on a nail at home and developed a severe staph infection. After a week in the hospital they decided to place a picc line, in which after a few months with it i developed a blood clot. It was a severe one. It started in the injection site and ended about a centemeter from my heart. VERY PAINFUL!. So now its still there its in my subclavian vein. All of it has? dissolved except an Inch
CONTINUED. From my heart Like Pakichick says the Lovenox shots are terrible . About 3 weeks into it i had complications and part of the blood clot broke off. Luckily it wasnt big enough to do damage. To this day i am on Coumadin and taking Oral? Antibiotics. I wouldnt wish this upon anybody. Good Luck pakichick444. Best wishes and get better
